Ancient Mesopotamia had a writing system developed to record and communicate types of information, the earliest form of which were pictograms. Pictograms were used to communicated important things like state taxes and crop yield. Later the writing system developed into a script which is known as cuneiform. Ancient Mesopotamians recorded on clay tables their daily lives, astronomy, trades, and literature/history of the region. Cuneiform was first created by the ancient Sumerians and is one of the greatest inventions ever since it was how we were able learn so much about our past and this culture. It was written by styluses made by blunted reeds and is a testament to the ever-evolving ingeniuty of man.
