The ancient Mesopotamian civilization used materials in their architecture such as mud bricks, wood, and stone. Ancient Mesopotamians deigned the best architectural work was made for religious purpose and other special reasons. Not only did the Mesopotamians have amazing architecture, they also had wonderful artwork. Every piece of artwork was created with the purpose of adding to society, whether that be through religion, or through moral appeal, or through just sheer beauty. The art of the Mesopotamians often times incorporated sculptures of stone and clay and from the few paintings that remained, we could tell that they used many geometrical influences in their drawings and the best instance of this would be the cylinder seals, which are small round cylinders that are engraved with images or their language (which is a work of art on its own). Back to architecture, the Mesopotamians also created strutures called Zigguratsand they were constructed for religious purposes. Also the Mesopotamians used things like irrigation and bronze in order to raise their standards of living. They were proficient at textile weaving, metalworking, glassmaking, and even mastered control of the Tigris and Euphrates by creating water storages and flood drains.
