In the Indian Subcontinent, there were a mulitude of dangers in their geographical location. Things like monsson rains, typhoons, flooding, and drought left parts of ancient India inhospitable, but the extreme conditions did not prevent the Indians from living lavishly. They were able to amass civilizations amongst the chaos, especially with the help of the Indus river, which created fertile soil which was great for farming and that fueled the rest of their economy.
